Spring Fashion 411

Spring is in the air! With the rush of warm(er) weather recently, it's feeling like it might be time to put away those winter coats and dark colors and start pulling out our lighter fabrics and florals! Almost everyone changes their wardrobe for spring, so why not change your glasses? If you’re in the mood for a different look, here are some of the top trends in eyewear.

Round

The biggest, and most polarizing, trend we have seen for Spring 2018 is round eyeglasses. Round glasses add fullness to every face shape, so if you are someone who has a long, thin face, round eyeglasses would be for you! For people with already round faces, round glasses might be too much, but it never hurts to try! Round glasses can look adorable on round face shapes, it just depends on your personal style aesthetic.

Tortoise Print

Tortoise shell eyeglasses are making a comeback, but not in the classic way! Classic brown tortoise print is nice, but the tortoise glasses we’re seeing in magazines and on the runway are bold and intense. Colors such as blue, pink, yellow, and green are being utilized to create very adventurous speckled textures that really make an otherwise safe and unassuming pattern pop! This trend screams ‘fun’ and would be great for anyone looking to add some pizazz to their life and look. Below: Ted Baker B748

Florals

Okay, yes we’ve seen florals before, but not in eyewear! Florals are being used as accents, normally inside the frame as a print. Ted Baker Optical is known for putting their new prints for the seasons on the inside of their frames. Kate Spade goes one step further and embellishes one of her sunglass styles with poppies! If you’re into feminine, flirty, styles, consider getting a pair of glasses with florals on them.

Crystal

This trend is certainly making some waves in the fashion community: crystal glasses. (Right: Penguin Original The Saul)

Though not made of real lead crystal (that would be heavy, wouldn’t it?), these glasses are completely clear on the face of the frame. This sort of frame can be worn by anyone; you just have to pick the right shape. Crystal glasses can be a statement or an everyday frame. It's all in the attitude of the wearer.

Cat-Eye

The cat-eye shaped glasses of previous decades are also coming back in style! Our opticians LOVE this trend. A cat-eye can be worn by almost all face shapes. Not only does this shape create the illusion of an “instant eye-lift,” it also adds glamour and style! Cat-eye shaped glasses are for an individual who isn’t afraid to stand out.

Changing up your style might be just what you need to get out of those winter blues! Our best advice to finding a new look: try everything!
